Each
of the following modules is specifically tailored to the client
organization. These services are available either as stand-alone
modules or as a customized series.

Teleworking Start-up for Private Companies
Designed for companies that want to shorten the process of learning
about telework. By using our knowledge of other companies’
experience with telecommuting and other forms of telework and our
extensive library of telecommuting reports, we can save clients the
time and cost of "reinventing the wheel." The product of
this module often forms chapters in a company's white paper written
to gain top management approval for implementing telework.
Benefit: Learn from other companies what works
and does not work.

Teleworking Start-up for States
Designed for administrators in state government, this is an
opportunity to create interest and action in both the public and
private sector by learning from the experience of states that have
already implemented telework.
Benefit: Learn from other states what works
and does not work.

Compliance Assessment
Assessment of the organization's level of compliance with the Clean
Air Act and with hiring practices under the American Disabilities
Act.
Benefit: Obtain a baseline of current practice to use as the
government requires transportation demand management measures to be
implemented. Assures company documentation of employee trip
reductions under the Clean Air Act and hiring practices under the
American Disabilities Act.

Formalizing Telework
Reshaping of informal teleworking to comply with the Clean Air Act
and the American Disabilities Act hiring regulations.
Objective: Develop a plan to formalize telework in companies that
are using remote work but may or may not call their practice
"telecommuting" or one of the many other names for
telework.

Senior Management Briefing
A discussion format which, at the client’s option, begins with a
formal overview of teleworking. The briefing emphasizes discussion
of management’s questions about issues such as workers’
compensation; examples of successful telecommuting programs; types
of companies that should not implement telework; and ways that other
companies avoid pitfalls.
Benefit: Gains support of top managers for
teleworking.

Teleworking Needs Assessment
The organization is examined department by department to identify
where teleworking could increase productivity and/or compliance. A
report with rationale, includes recommendations of departments that
should introduce telework as company prototypes, and departments
where telework would not be suitable.
Objective: Assess the feasibility of
teleworking for the company.

Middle Management Briefing
Follows the format of the senior management briefing with a more
detailed discussion of practical implementation issues that
specifically relate to middle management concerns.
Benefit: Gains support of middle managers for
telework.

Designing a Telework Program
Work closely with company staff to 1) develop recommendations for
phasing in company departments and/or branch offices; 2) set up the
company’s internal policy group; 3) identify items to include in
the teleworkers' agreement,- and 4) develop selection and training
procedures and schedule.
Benefit: Builds a teleworking program tailored
to the company's needs.

Selection of Teleworkers and Telemanagers
Provide criteria of tasks and personalities benefited by teleworking.
Supply questionnaires to use for screening prospective telemanagers
and teleworkers.
Benefit: Assures that telemanagers and
teleworkers are well suited to teleworking.

Training of Telemanagers and Teleworkers
A three-part workshop that trains separately, first the telemanagers
and then the teleworkers, and finally brings the
telemanager-teleworker teams together to plan the first months’
teleworking procedures and schedule.
Benefit: Assures smooth implementation of
successful telework.

Troubleshooting the Teleworking Program
Through telephone interviews, questionnaires, and focus groups,
pinpoint problems and develop solutions to maximize the
effectiveness of telework within the organization.
Objective: Identify and correct problems.

Formal Evaluation of Telework
Evaluate the teleworking program using baseline, midterm and final
surveys which provide comparisons with a normative database of other
organizations’ programs. Make recommendations for extending
telework throughout the company, if appropriate, and for formalizing
of record-keeping procedures so that teleworking can count as
compliance with Clean Air Act and American Disabilities Act
commuting and hiring goals.
Benefit: Achieve a successful, documented
telework program.
Take the Project
Status Quiz to determine the next steps you need to take to
implement telework in your organization.
The cost of assistance with each module varies with company size.
